Marin County has never been big on the map, I mean for me personally. From what I know, Marin only gets brought into a conversation when people talk about how damn expensive it is to live here, or how we are the richest county in the US, i don't know if that's true still yet idgaf. It's not like I'm a 100% "OMG I love Marin County" hippie, but I guess I can say I appreciate where I have been put on this Earth and where I've grown up. Every place is unique for somebody and Marin happens to be that one of a kind place for me and I bet the same for others, maybe not lol. Cool views, we're right next to S.F., super diverse, but then again the diversity isn't all that unified. But everyone is different and I just try to keep it cool with everyone and mind my own shit. Entitlement and stereotyping are huge issues here in Marin I would say. Kids in high school hanging out with their own "kind" just to keep a good reputation and look cool. Rich folk screaming at employees who are just trying to make a living, the list can go on. Maybe these kinds of things won't ever change, but that's why we at Highpoint want to spark that revolution of positivity, unity and progression within the brand. Doesn't matter if your black, latino, white, asian, etc., the point is to stand for something as a collective and give it all you fucking got to be where you want to be in life. Not push people away from you, but get to know them, you never know they might create a huge beneficial impact in your life. Entitlement and stereotyping is all just a mind trap. As kids, we grow up programmed with this way of thinking about others coming from our parents, when in reality there are soooo fucking wrong lol. And our parents were programmed by their parents to think a certain way too. I won't get deep in this subject but overall what I'm trying to say is that there is so much inequality and ignorance not just in Marin, but the whole country. Anybody can do anything in this world if they put their mind and body towards it. Just because you're latino, doesn't mean you have to work in construction. Just because you're black, doesn't mean you have to be a thug. Just because you're white doesn't mean you have to be a lawyer. Whatever you want to do in this life, fucking do it because it makes you happy, not because you think you should be there according to someone else. Back to the point, so many big name businesses come from the big cities like L.A. or N.Y., but never from a small ass place you know? So why not start small here in Marin and then branch out?
HOW CAN I START TO "CHANGE"?
Well first things first is why do you want to change? What's the reason why you want to change? Because this reason is going to be the gas to your engine every time you forget why you're doing it in the first place. For example, the reason why I am so into mental health and sharing it with you guys is because I've dealt (and currently still do) with anxiety for the past 7 years now and I was tired of that shit. I knew I had to do something about it because no one else was going to fix that for me, not even medication (never took that shit thank god). So all the little steps that have lead me to where I am and how I feel today are because of these two very vital words, Patience and Consistency. How do you think a body builder gets so damn big? You think he's injecting steroids in his body every fucking 5 min.? (maybe) How do you think famous actors and artists and athletes are at the top of their prime? How do you think we got to the fucking moon? All because of Patience and staying consistent. You can't go to the gym and expect to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger after the first work out. You got to keep pushing and improving every single day, even if you're sick of it. Practice makes perfect, and that's how I've gotten in more manage of my anxiety by reading specific books and videos and applying it to my everyday life. UNTIL IT BECOMES A HABIT!!! THAT'S THE GOAL!!! Until your brain does it automatically without you having to remind yourself to do it. It could take days, months, years, heck you might even die without getting it done, but that all depends on how dedicated you are to the change you want. And change means sacrifice as well. Bye bye to Netflix, TV, bars and movie nights with cousin Earl. I want you guys to see change like a baby, you gotta feed it and watch him/her grow till they blossom into this beautiful creation that you made, because we all know what will happen if we don't feed the baby and i am not in the mood to mentioned that outcome. Get to work fam.
DO YOU "PRIME" EVERY MORNING?
Listen fam, if you watch Netflix for 2-3 hours a day, then you for sure have the time to do a 15 min. meditation every morning before starting your day. If you're always complaining about shit or you feel stuck, click the links below and try out this meditation called "priming" instructed by the one and only Tony Robbins. Don't assume this won't work before even trying it out, your mind is fooling you if you think this is trash. Try it and thank us later, you'll feel like a mf king/queen and it drives you to get what you want in life through a sense of gratitude and positivity. Once again, we are not hippies, we share this because it works, and remember to do this every frikin' morning.
Watch this first video to get a sense of how to do it.
This second video is the actual thing. It's an audio where you close your eyes and follow what Tony says.
WHAT THE HELL IS "INSTINCT CO."
Believe it or not, our very first name as a brand was "Highpoint Fitness Co." We wanted to name ourselves just "Highpoint" but so many mf have the name already, there's even a university called Highpoint, so we had to add another part to it to make it officially ours. We went with fitness in the beginning because that was our main focus at the time, but we felt that it was too competitive to even begin with and that we had to work our way up to it somehow. So we decided to change our name to "Highpoint Supply Co." and that shit was taken as well :( Turns out its a boutique shop in Texas (y'all are lucky for that cool ass name). Finally, we decided on the name "Highpoint Instinct Co." to fully indicate that reaching your highpoint and all mental and physical goals should come from "instinct" the more we put things into play to improve ourselves in certain aspects in life. So if you ever think about creating a brand, this is the most time consuming part of the process. Think wisely because this is who you will be known for the rest of your brand's existence.
HABITS AND HOW TO CHANGE THEM
Here's a great example of a habit. It's when you pick your nose during traffic on the way back home after work. You don't even think about it when you do it, and that's what makes it a habit. Some of us have good habits you know, like manners and stuff but the majority of us have bad habits unfortunately, and the good thing is we can change that, but people would rather watch Netflix and hit the bars instead of fixing themselves (who said that??).
To change and get rid of old habits is super challenging, you have to be 100% in the game, or you're back to the old you. Letting go of eating hot cheetos while dieting, limiting alcohol consumption, and don't forget stopping yourself from picking your nose during traffic. It requires intense consistency and belief. How did brushing our teeth every morning become such a habit? Probably because Mom or Dad would yell at you and tell you that your teeth would fall out if you didn't. Be thankful they did, because if they didn't, I'd be honored to meet the first 16 year old with a full set of dentures. The more our parents reminded us to brush our teeth, the more it became programmed in our heads to do so. Habits are established in the subconscious by repetition after repetition. So in order to end bad habits, we have to create new ones by putting it into play day by day, minute by minute. Could take days, years, decades, all depends on how much work you put in. Even when you don't feel like it, you gotta do it fam if you really want change. Trust the process.
PASSION IN WORK
"Being skilled and passionate are two different things" - Abe (This is Not a T-Shirt by Bobby Hundreds)
This quote literally will open your eyes towards what you want to do in life. Many of us study and go for a big name career where many just focus on the money, not the actual occupation. If you enjoy what you do on a daily basis, then that is what really matters because you know your heart is there 100%. Versus when you wake up on Mondays not wanting to go to work because you hate everything about it. Pay could be good, benefits as well, but you will never be fulfilled if there is no passion in what you do. Only those with heart and soul in what they do stand out. Employment is just a skill at the end of the day, anyone can replace you within a matter of days. The only way to not let that happen is if you work hard on being the best at what you do, and that requires passion. When Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid, the team lost a huge piece, everything started going downhill for the club. That clearly shows how much a person with passion and huge ambition can leave such an impact. Same when a engineer or doctor leaves an important role to start something new for themselves, it's hard to replace someone that good to fill in the spot. Point of this post, don't be the one who gets replaced. Be the one who stands out and loves what they do, because no one can take that away from you. A passionate connection is a gift, and there is a reason why we love to do certain things. That's the road you should follow, not for the money, not for fame, not for material things, not for attention, just do it because you simply love to do it and it will bring forth rewards when you least expect it.
ONE CULTURE. ONE MOVEMENT. ONE STEP AT A TIME.
The word “Raza” signifies “the race” or “the community” that Mexican Americans use to described a strong sense of cultural identity.
And with our founder’s hispanic background, we incorporate this word into something we all can take part of.
We all fucking struggle to pay bills, support our families, and try to make time for the ones we love, and we gotta be grateful for everything little and big thing because out there, someone has it worse then us.
Doesn’t matter if you are white, latino, black ,asian, etc.
We each carry a vision and future that we want to create for ourselves, but nowadays everyone is selfish as if it were a competition.
People make it to the top and succeed by the help of others, you can’t do everything in this life alone. And us at Highpoint Instinct Co. follow this norm by heart.
Founder’s Message: As a latino kid, I know I was not meant to follow the steps of my parents. Realize how much our parents sacrifice for us to become better people and enjoy a better lifestyle. If your parents are forcing you to become someone you are not, then you are not being heard my friends.
Speak the fuck up and take control of the direction your heading. No way going back now, This is our life, our time to seek opportunity and create the change that this world needs for others and for ourselves.
Too many people doing the same shit nowadays just to fit in the perfect picture for their parents and others. Fam, do what you love, even if you’re broke rn. If you can enjoy what you do and provide value to others, you’re already winning my friends. Don’t waste these precious years of your life doing something you fucking hate!
We wish all of y’all the strength and courage to fight for what you want in life and to enjoy the process within. Life wasn’t made to be easy my friends, you wonder why it’s hard? It’s because it’s trying to tell us something and teach us a valuable lesson everyday. And most try to blame other people for what’s going on. Wake TF up!
For us. Strength in numbers. ONE RAZA. VIVA HIGHPOINT CABRONES
Anxiety is the art of creating problems that don't exist. And what causes that? Overthinking. It's funny because all the thoughts that you've been spending time on never even happen. You're just a good movie script writer, but none of that shit will happen if you carry out what you have to do, or just simply cut out the overthinking.
Overthinking kills all ambition to move forward with something. And eventually it leads down a negative route. The deeper and more specific you get with those evil thoughts, the more you'll get addicted because the scenes you create feel so real, your mind starts to believe them, and that is what holds you back.
Next time you have a big meeting, a date, a presentation, or anything that brings uncertainty, cut the bullshit and don't overthink it. Do you want to freeze? Or feel free? You decide. You have the power to control which thoughts to accept and to decline.
Replace the negativity with positive thoughts, and stick with them. It's like a game, try to kick the bad thoughts out of your head as much as you can when you feel them creeping in until you have that big meeting, etc. Because the less negativity in your mind, the less stress you'll feel and the more comfortable and confident you will feel towards a new challenge. Start practicing fam.
HAVE A VISION
If you don't have a vision, then you have no drive, simple as that. Many people complain how they live their same boring
lives day by day and nothing is happening for them, this is one of the reasons why.
By having a vision, you put yourself into a position where you're set on one thing and eventually the more consistent you are with this vision everyday, your mind and body will create that path towards it, it's the Law of Attraction.
If you don't know what The Law of Attraction is, look up the film "The Secret" on Netflix, it's kinda lame looking but if you understand the point, then that is what matters.
Maybe the vision is of you being rich, or stronger, or thinner, or less afraid, etc. This vision creates purpose in our lives and that is what all of us want! Don't you?
One way to create a vision is by priming every morning (meditating for 15 min)
Check out our "Do You Prime?" blog , it's a couple sections above and trust that it will make you feel better and also will bring you closer to that vision IF and ONLY IF, you are taking action. No action, no results.
It's easy to dream, but not to take action. Let your vision drive you and your actions bring you closer to it.
